OR Puss ‘N Boots and Red Riding Hood Triumphant over the Evil Spider King" Our show has two firmly nebulous parts – the first being The Fairy Tale, and the second being The Harlequinade. These two segments are connected at the waist by a spectacular magical transformation, in which True Love and the fairy queen’s wand remedy a terrible fate. We begin our tale with the ordinary family of Fairy Queen Spenda and her brood, as youngest brother Pan schemes to make mischief. He interferes in the rescue of our Heroine Red Riding Hood from the clutches of the Evil Spider King, who has taken Red to the enchanted Isle of Jewels as his prisoner. Despite fairy meddling, Willy the Woodman summons the help of Puss ‘N Boots to undertake the rescue of his true love, Red Riding Hood. Our two heroes seek out Good Queen Bess to guide them on their quest, and Bess reveals a magic secret: The Pearl of Love shall show them the way! But to find the Pearl of Love is an adventure both harrowing and perilous! For it lies at the bottom of the Sea, and Puss and Willy must venture there to retrieve it. Will they retrieve the Pearl from the dreaded Lobsters? Will they make it safely to the mysterious land of Cathay bearing the Pearl? Puss and Willy must prepare to battle the Evil Spider King on the enchanted Isle of Jewels. A Terrible Fate Awaits! But in the end, true love is revealed to hold a magical power. Just when our heroes are doomed, the Power of Love awakens to begin another chapter. From the darkest depths of dungeon despair, with the help of Fairy Queen Splenda, our band is lifted and transformed from fairy tale characters into silly, laughing fools. Thus begins The Harlequinade, in which the changed henchmen and evil spiders of the past become harmless buffoons. During the stunning display of fairy transmogrification, our hero Willy the Woodman is revived and magically reconstituted into Harlequin to lead The Harlequinade, while Red Riding Hood is changed into Columbine to help him fight evil doers. The Evil Spider King’s fate during the harlequinade is to become, simply, a Merry Laughing Clown What follows are a familiar set of predicaments; the poor fools scheme and plan their way to riches, only to have the plots foiled by the honest Harlequin and Columbine. Time and again the fools must be taught the lessons of honesty and charity. And in the end, it does them a power of good! |
